So for the last 9 months I've been working on a house about 2 hours west of Brisbane in the Border Ranges. My friend Lindsay who lives out there looked after me while I was visiting and often took me riding on the 400 acre property with his amazing horses. I took these photos as a thank you and a little bit of a legacy to my time out there.

District 9 Exhibition

The District 9 Exhibition is a collaborative showcase of exceptional new works by Brisbane’s most prolific graffiti artist Sofles and fine artist Fintan Magee. On Saturday 17 July the pair will stage an unprecedented 2-storey, multi-space exhibition at The Fort Arts Hub in Fortitude Valley, spanning the walls of the centre’s ground level art gallery and penthouse artist studios, infamously known as “District 9”.

The one-off, one-night-only instillation throughout the entire top floor of The Fort will double as a farewell celebration for the space which, until recently, hosted Fintan and Sofles’ art studios. The pair, who shared the studios with three other artists for the past 12-months, will pack up their paint and easels and transform the space into a unique gallery environment that offers up a rare and exciting glimpse into the productive exploits of their creative spaces.

“It’s been inspiring seeing the space empty again, like a fresh canvas. There are different rooms on the top floor, as well as the gallery spaces, which will all have different themes” Fintan said.

While the upstairs component of the exhibition is only for opening night, the works will overflow into the gallery for a full two-week stint, open to the public every day until Thursday 29 July. The creative duo have been busily preparing new work to make the most of the extensive wall space and meet their fast approaching deadline.

A few months ago we did this shoot for Irena Jusufovic as a 6 page spread for the second issue of Hell Yeah Magazine. The magazine was officially launched on Sunday night at Zuri in the Valley. Make up was done by Cheyenne Sarfati, hair by Violet Boyson, styling and concept by Irena Jusufovic.

So after nearly 2 months without internet I'm back! Be expecting some posts soon... But first up on the 27th of June we are having a launch party for the second edition of Hell Yeah mag. I've got a few photos in there from a shoot I did for Irena Jusufovic. The party is going to be a good time same as last time so make sure you put some effort in to dress up and rock up. The party is pop art/ Warhol's factory themed, there's heaps of good DJs lined up and loads of free shit to give away. Ten dollar entry which includes a copy of the mag, starts at 5 pm at The Zuri in The Valley.

Today I planned a full day of shooting with Tyla, as I rarely get to see her these days... To cut a long story our whole shoot plan got thrown out the window when we had some light technicalities that prevented us from shooting in the location we wanted. So instead we threw this together at Cheyenne and Ryan's house and then carried on to Luke and Elana's to mess up people's lounge rooms. We finished the shoot 3 hours ago with 5 minutes to get Tyla and Bailey to the train station, I then returned to Elzee cooked pie, a glass of Ironlak port and some homemade tattoos. Thank you to Cheyenne Sarfati for her make up skills as usual and letting us ruin her house, Elana Mullaly for hair and styling, Lani and Brett for babysitting and Irena for some general gossip.

This series of photos is from a body of work I did nearly 2 years ago. I was trying to document graffiti artists from the area but in the end I got so sick of taking photos of people painting legal walls in full colour because it became too much about the art. So I switched it up to black and white and tried to focus more on the action and the life surrounding graffiti culture. This series is based mostly around graffiti artist Sofles. So in January and February of this year I travelled to South East Asia with my good mate Jared O'sullivan, who is also a photographer. We went to Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. We ate seedy food, swam in the Mekong River, got sick, got robbed and nearly hated eachother by the time we got home but it was awsome all the same. These are a couple of photos I took along the way.
